while、when、whilst 1. whilst：连词 “当…… 时；然而（英式拼写，美式为 while，语义完全一致）”（如 Whilst I was reading, the phone rang 我看书时，电话响了；She is tall, whilst her sister is short 她很高，而她妹妹很矮）； 2. 与 when（连词 “当…… 时”，如 When he arrived, we started 他到了之后，我们就开始了）区别：whilst/while 强调 “动作同时进行”，when 可指 “动作先后或同时”（whilst reading=when I was reading，但 “when he came” 不可说 “whilst he came”）； 3. 注意：whilst/while 还可表 “对比（然而）”，when 无此用法（如上文对比身高的例子）。
